About an hour’s drive from the airport some love Colombo, most don’t. Not untypical amongst emerging cities the municipal services have not kept pace with development. But there are hidden architectural treasures worth seeing as well as the occasional festival. But perhaps Colombo is best known amongst visitors for its iconic shopping bargains: Odels, Barefoot, Paradise Road, Trunk and others. Now that restaurants are adapting to a more sophisticated palate we think it worth while stopping in for a night on the way in or out. |
