The house is located in the court square, the heart of Galle Fort. In the morning this square is filled with auyevedic salesman as they sell their wares to those waiting to see, or be seen by, the magistrate. This is an aspect of Sri Lanka at work - or more correctly, in court. Noise of any kind is strictly forbidden in the square whilst the courts are open for their morning business. It provides a fascinating look at real life here. |

Walk past an antique non descript door with No 10 written on it and you will probably carry on. Such is the desire of the owners to blend in with their surroundings. But venture inside and you enter a different world. An inner door from India opens to a vaulted hall way with ancient family portraits. |

The hall way leads into the open plan kitchen dining room which is the heart and soul of this family house. It is in the kitchen that you will find Sudantha, a chef loved by many who have recently made Galle their home. His cooking is exceptional, from his signature Thai soup to Chillie chocolate cake. You can find his chocolate brownies on the menu at several restaurants and hotels in the area. |

Not bowing to the demand for a pool the owners instead retained the massive mango tree that dominates the courtyard and introduced a yellow flowering Ehella tree to provide shade. There is an open sided sitting room that looks upon the courtyard. |

There are 3 air conditioned bedrooms. Two downstairs for the owners children both with queen size beds and which share a bathroom. The master suite is upstairs and has a Balinese bed that you climb into from the foot. The bathroom enjoys the largest bath tub built in an egg shape and has twin sinks and a shower. |

Opposite the Master suite is a garden roof terrace used for sunbathing and relaxing. |
