This is a lovely two story house located a few yards from the ramparts in the heart of Galle Fort. |
| |
Polished floors and really high ceilings give you a sense of calm and peace as you enter this house. Teak stairs lead to the bedrooms upstairs and a large landing which has a desk with views down the street and out to sea. |
| |
The side of the house facing the courtyard has 5 large open archways that look towards the garden and courtyard pool. There is a large swing suspended over the shallow end of the pool. In the far corner of the courtyard is the downstairs bathroom and there is an outdoor shower hidden behind a wall. |
| |
All meals are taken sitting at the long table between the open plan sitting rooms and the courtyard. Overhead fans and the gentle breeze coming off the pool will keep you cool. |
| |
The sitting room has a large fixed sofa that is built in a L shape, as well as a Balinese day bed and other seats. In the corner of the L shape sofa is a plinth, on which sits a beautifully carved Ganesh. Flowers and insence are placed daily as an offering. |
| |
Of the four bedrooms the master has an ensuite bathroom. The other 3, two doubles and a twin, share the second bathroom. |
| |
There is a lovely family home that offers a sanctuary from the heat of the beaches, and that has a heart. |
