Ever dreamt of really getting away...I mean really being able to lose yourself with only 'the' or 'those' you want to be with...of shutting the rest of the world out..apart from the cook of course. Well this is it...in Sri Lanka. About 2 hrs north of the airport along a surpisingly smooth road you will arrive at the new 'Jones' - I could hardly say 'Eden'...a new escape. |

Khomba House is a family villa of two large ensuite bedrooms, one of which has an adjoining room with three fixed sofas that can be made up as single beds. I have slept on one of these and enjoyed a blissful night's sleep. The land area where KH has been plotted out and will gradually be developed but right now Komba stands alone...so now is the time..before the 'Smiths' arrive. |

In fact the area is the brainchild of the guys at Ulpotha -a jungle village haven of peaceful bliss and yoga - and they have built a sutainable hotel with 4 or 5 luxury villa cabanas. The advantage of their presence is that they have the boats that go whale and dolphin watching, they have the fishing gear if some fresh tuna appeals, they have the sailing dingy and they have a 40 metre pool available for your use. Oh and they have a bar, so should the desire to mingle with some like minded souls tempt you for a sunset or two the opton is there. |

For day trips you can visit the ancient cities of Polonaruwa and Sigiriya or the Cave temples of Dambula all about 3 hours away. But otherwise Khomba is for those who want to escape so leave the blackberry behind and remind yourself what reality is like. |
