I was immeditely taken by the calm and serenity of this all teak house. In a world of concrete the house is a relief. It is nestled on a hilltop in the midst of a lush, tropical garden and immaculately kept coconut plantation. I have to agree with the owners that The Teak House is one of Sri Lanka's South Coast’s most romantic and serene villa hideaways.
From its elevated position overlooking Seenimodera beach - renowned as one of the Sri Lanka’s most picturesque and unspoilt sandy beaches -the villa’s bedrooms and open plan living benefit from the constant breezes coming from the Indian Ocean below. The Teak House is hidden from view and constructed entirely of teak - one of Sri Lanka’s sustainable hardwoods - is relaxed and incredibly comfortable.
Whilst tempting to do little other than swing in a hammock or lounge on a sun chair, The Teak House is ideally placed to explore Tangalle’s wild stretch of coastline and visit a selection of wildlife parks, historical towns and temples.
