So named because it is the last house to be designed by famed local architect, Geoffrey Bawa. Regarded as one of the most influential Asian architects of the 20th century. His work is characterised by sensitivity to site and context and in this, his last house, it rings very true. Blending inside and outside he has "reduced buildings to a series of scenographically conceived spaces separated by courtyards and gardens."
Very privately located at the end of a track opening directly onto a large soft sandy beach the house is perfect for family escapes. There are 2 bedrooms in the main house and 3 further bedrooms in the annex and can be rented as a whole (all 5 bedrooms) or by just the main house (2 bedrooms). The bedrooms are the master suite and a twin room and both open out onto the south facing balcony that looks over the garden and beach towards the south pole.
The other 3 bedrooms are doubles and are housed separately in a building the other side of the pool - one of these rooms overlooks a lagoon at the rear of the property.
The pool is suitably located in the inner garden courtyard allowing it to enjoy the cool afternoon shade so to retain its purpose. The house comes with a full compliment of staff and a superb cook. A beach villa obviously needs a beach, and in this regard The Last House enjoys one of the best and there is walking access to smaller bays.
