This is one of the most spectacular villas I have visited in Sri Lanka. Why? Location. It rests atop a hill and offers the kind of view that you can gaze at all day and never tire of. It is a 2 min stroll from one the best beaches along the coast. A perfect half moon shape with soft white sand and wave after wave that rolls in on which you can have hours of fun. It is about an hour and a half from the klargest national park in the country teeming with elephants, illusive leopard, sloth bear and many other animals.
But Kadju House is also stylish. Recently built and designed by an architect to watch who has managed to blend modern living with nature. Sitting in the roof top open sided living room at the canopy of the tropical gardens it is a twitchers paradise. Shaded by trees and plants the house is as easy on the eye as the view.
There are 4 bedrooms. 3 doubles and a twin, all ensuite. Extra mattresses can be placed in the twin room that overlooks the gardens. All the doubles have views out to the garden or ocean and private decking. Design is clean, simple and somewhat minimal.
The 36 foot pool sits on the roof and it is my suggestion that it is to here that you will retire to for most of the day when not surfing. It is spectacular. There is a shaded pavilion with compfortable sofas or you can roast on a sun lounger on the pool side decking. The breeze up here is refreshing and the ever eager attention of the house staff will ensure the ice never melts.
All of our experiences were very positive and I rate both villas as excellent, we particularly appreciated the very high quality of staffing.
