houses inside Galle Fort

Details

The Fort is approx 36 hectare and has massive rampart walls surrounding it and has over the recent past become a ‘must visit’ on the itinerary of every tourist heading to the south of this magical island. The international cricket pitch is just outside the ‘new’ gate built by the English in the late 1700s and plays host to Test matches. It was on this ground that the local hero, Murali, claimed his 800th Test match wicket on his last ball of the last over against India. In the media

The houses tend to be around 250sqm up to 750 sq m. Some have small gardens or inner courtyards. Most hail from the Dutch period and all have charm. Some are offered on a ‘turn key’ walk in furniture included whilst others require extensive renovation and or a new build. Some will appeal as a residential property whereas others are definitely for the more commercial minded investor.
