This six bedroom luxury beach villa in Sri Lanka sits on a secluded, palm fringed bay where the garden melts into soft sand & the ocean is always in view. From the moment you arrive you feel the quiet privacy of the setting, with only the sound of the waves, the breeze in the coconut trees and the occasional fishing boat passing by. Four further bedrooms are on the first floor, 2 on either side of the main entrance, each opening to a small balcony or terrace with wide ocean views, the perfect spot for a quiet morning coffee or a nightcap under the stars. All rooms are airy and cool, with crisp white linens, contemporary Sri Lankan art & ensuite bathrooms.

Although the bay feels wonderfully secluded, Nilwella is less than ten minutes from the buzzing scene at Hiriketiya, one of Sri Lanka’s most exciting emerging beach destinations. Once a sleepy horseshoe bay, Hiriketiya is now known for its consistent surf, laid back atmosphere & a growing collection of world class bars, cafes & small restaurants. Spend the day there surfing or taking a lesson, grazing your way between beachside brunch spots, smoothie bars & stylish little bistros, then return to the calm of your private villa as evening falls.

The villa’s location on Sri Lanka’s south coast also makes it an ideal base for exploring further afield. Yala National Park, one of Asia’s best wildlife reserves, is less than two hours away by road. A day trip can bring you face to face with elephants moving through the scrub, crocodiles basking by the waterholes, dazzling birdlife &, with luck, Sri Lanka’s elusive leopards.
