Satin Doll

Recently renovated, Satin Doll has evolved into a stunning luxury villa. Located a few KM outside of Galle close..but not too close…to restaurants and bars this new entrant into the luxury scene comfortably resides amongst the best that Galle has to offer. 

Entered via a long covered walk way that ensures the only audible sound is the ocean you enter the house from the walled-in and manicured gardens. The villa is beautifully furnished with fabric from India and contemporary art from Sri Lanka. There are 4 bedroom suites and 1 family room with a king size bed and adjoining room with bunk beds. All rooms are air con with four poster beds, comfortable chairs and covered private terraces that face the garden and ocean. The entertainment area, with a home cinema Sat TV, DVD and WiFi,  is on a mezzanine floor overlooking the open plan sitting / dining area. Several seating areas allow for some private reading and the gardens are large enough to siesta in peace after a midday feast. 

There is raised beach side seating as well as a beach side pavilion and direct beach access. A full compliment of staff, including great cook, are on hand to ensure you will be well looked after…and fed. Breakfast is included and there is a set price for lunch and dinner.

Our stay at Satin Villa was incredible and more than I would have expected. The setting was as amazings as it looks on the photos, the house felt really homely and the staff was incredible. The highlight were definitely the meals - The Sri Lankan Breakfast is a must!

Satin Doll is a beautiful villa. It is very spacious with an enormous garden and a lovely pool with a good shallow end for kids. The setting is stunning and eating meals whilst listening to the surf and watching the stilt fishermen is magical. The staff, including the chefs, are excellent. The villa, and especially the outdoor bathrooms, could do with being better maintained and we had a number of small issues during our stay. It is also a shame that you cannot swim or use the beach in front of the villa because of the tides. The proximity to Galle and good beaches like Kabalana and Wajiya was great and nearby Sri Yoga Shala is highly recommended. Overall, we had a lovely stay.

THINGS IN THE TROPICS CAN OCCASIONALLY GO AMISS AND AS SOON AS WE WERE NOTIFIED OF A LEAKING TAP IT WAS FIXED. THERE IS A REEF IN FRONT OF THE VILLA BUT THE BEACH CAN BE USED DEPENDING ON THE SEASON.
