Serendipity

Details

This is a stunning villa located on a piece of land that slopes gently to the shores of Koggala lake with 5 bedrooms.

In the early morning hours, you can see fishermen on their wooden canoes row back to the adjacent jetty with their catch of the previous night whilst the monks in the Buddhist monastery on the opposite shore chant their morning prayers. Later in the day the sunsets are spectacular.

All the famous beaches of the Southern coast are in close proximity and the historic Galle Fort is a 30 minute drive.

The villa comes fully staffed with an excellent chef, a care taker, a house keeper, a gardener and 24 hour security services.

The villa provides on a complementary basis bicycles and a boat ride on the lake. Ample games are available, plasma TV with DVD player and a library of recent movies. The separate lounge has a pool table and a large library of books in English, French and German.

Highly recommend this villa. Great guys running the place. Very accommodating and very prompt with everything. We got a bit unlucky with rains on certain days but we had a pool table which kept some people busy and the villa staff booked very nice massages too which took place in the villa. Traveled with a 4 month old baby and they had a baby cot and helped in whatever we demanded.

Our stay at Serene Villa was was a happy and good holiday, the house was great and the staff
charming and I would rate it as "very good ".
The chairs out side should all be changed as they where broken..I think from being left out
in the rain.
THANK YOU….THE CHAIRS ARE NOW CHANGED

The villa was fantastic and the staff were fabulous. Food was sensational. It was a great place to start as there were lots of different things to explore. We headed into the Fort, did a bike ride with Idle bikes and a boat trip to the spice markets and cinnamon farm. The beaches close by were fab and the kids loved the waves. We loved having the yoga each morning and the boys organised some Sri Lankan dancers and fire eaters for out last night.

We loved our time at Serene. The house was fantastic with the most beautiful view. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and the food was sensational. A perfect place to start the adventure.

There is a lot to do around the area which is essential with kids. We did the Galle Forte, lunch at Poonies, bike tour with Idle bikes, boat trip to cinnamon farm, spice farm and temple. The boys at the house organised a boat. We then went to visit Tri Lanka. They had a great boat. Not sure for future guests wether possible to book a boat trip with them (just a thought). The beaches close by where great.

Would highly recommend the house to anyone.

“We have seen and stayed at many villas and homes across the world, including multiple stays at Sri Lanka's southern coast - but this is the first time we have fallen absolutely and completely head over heels in love with a property - the beautiful Villa Serendipity. The house is beyond stunning - pictures don't do justice to the beauty and scale of the place. The location on Koggala lake is serene, private - just picture perfect. And the level of service provided by Himal, Asanka, Udeshika and team truly epitomises Sri Lankan hospitality - we felt truly pampered, looked after and relaxed. We were a large group with 8 adults and 4 kids and while the architecture and interior spaces are truly immaculate and beautiful, almost straight out of a design magazine - the house is also super comfortable and relaxed where the kids could be safe, play and have fun without having to be watched over all the time. There were also enough places for the grown ups to relax and chill, which is really important considering the size of our group. The pool is huge and lovely - and we spent most afternoons in there. One of the main reasons we had booked the place was because we had heard wonderful reviews of Chef Asanka and we were not disappointed. His chilli crab, prawn curry and brinjal moju are must tries. While we only spent 3 days in Villa Serendipity - I think we have all left a piece of our heart & soul behind - and cant wait to return. If you're searching for a incredible Sri Lankan holiday experience - look no further than Villa Serendipity.”

It is difficult to start writing a review of the beautiful place as everything is worth mentioning and good. Let us start with the house: a breathtaking house that offers all necessary comfort for a group of 10. The rooms are huge, the pool is great and the decoration makes it perfect. But believe it or not, but the house is not the best thing, it is the staff. Himal and his team make sure that you enjoy your holidays and feel like a king/queen. The service and food is at the highest level possible. This combined with the great extra services of Udeshika of Eden Villas and the great transport services of Manjula made our holidays unbelievable. A big thank you to everybody at Villa Serendipity!!!

Our vacation in Sri Lanka and more specific our stay at Villa Serendipity was a success from beginning to end. The hospitality of the complete staff, the excellent cooking art of chef Asanka, Himal’s cocktails, the thoughtful attention for our kids, the beautiful house itself with lovely garden and stunning view … this all made us think back with warm memories at Villa Serendipity.

On the shore of Lake Koggala. Chef cooked great meals! Buddist Monastery across Lake. Could hear chants and drums at certain times of day across Lake. Bats fill sky on dusk over Lake which was quite amazing to see. You cannot swim in this Lake but pool beautiful to relax in. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Totally recommend this very spacious place for quiet and relaxation. Ten minute Tuk Tuk ride to beaches and Tea Plantation.

Our time at Villa Serendipity was outstanding. Not only is the villa beautifully designed, with stunning views over Lake Koggala, the staff and food are also excellent. Everything had been thought of to make our stay as easy and enjoyable as possible. Chef Asanka's food was delicious, and the villa staff kept the place spotless and made us cocktails throughout the day. Absolute bliss. We also used the Villa Concierge service a lot, with Udeshika booking us various activities and in-villa wellness (yoga, bootcamp and massages) and making some great restaurant recommendations when we decided to go out for lunch. We'll definitely be returning and will be recommending the villa to our friends and family!

This was our second stay at Villa Serendipity and we had a wonderful time again. The staff is very helpful, kind and professional. Asanka is a great chef and does a delicious seafood bbq, while Himal the Manager was very helpful with all our requests. The view and the pool are amazing, the rooms really spacious and nicely decorated. It's the perfect location to have a relaxing time. We will be back for sure.

Great villa in secluded and secure area with stunning lake view! We stayed here in February 2019 - 6 adults and 4 children. Asanga the chef was really accommodating with food choices and dietary requirements (2 coeliac and 2 vegetarian). Every meal was excellent! The young man who waited on us and cleaned was excellent and always remembered any specific likes/dislikes our party members had (e.g. one party member does not drink alcohol so her would remember not to set her a wine glass with dinner and he brought her tea after her meal without her having to ask after a couple of days!). The house manager, Himal, was excellent at making cocktails - his lychee ones were fantastic!! Really chilled out and laid back atmosphere at this villa. The pool was a great size and was kept clean. Could benefit from a couple more sunbeds as there were only 6 or 7 i believe for a house for 10 (there may have been more in storage but we didn't ask as it wasn't a huge problem for us). Security patrolled the villa at nighttime which was reassuring. Gardeners kept the grounds clean and well kept. We were a bit unsure at first how the food selection/money system etc might work - a welcome 'meeting' to explain how the stay will operate might be a nice idea for future guests. Also would be nice to be asked throughout the day whether we wanted any drinks (we always had to go inside to find someone to ask for water/coffee etc) - perhaps we were meant to ask rather than be offered, which is fine but perhaps could be explained in a welcome meeting! :) We had local dancers in one evening for my husbands birthday celebrations and Himal made cocktails for us and Asanga arranged a BBQ- great evening! Himal also arranged for a firework display for us from the garden! kids had a great time. All in all a great stay and I would return for another stay in the future!!

“This is a wonderful property set amidst the tranquility of the lake. It is a really sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of the beaches and beach side properties. The design of the villa is spot on, with high ceilings and a downstairs area that becomes a huge communal indoor/outdoor space. The pool is a highlight with tiered levels making it great for kids who cannot fully swim yet. Our 2 year old bobbed around for hours (under close supervision!) and had the best time. Food was fantastic. Local dishes done the best we have had in Sri Lanka, and a simple, thoughtful offering for kids meals (spaghetti, chicken nuggets, fresh fish fingers, boiled veg etc but dine v well). Good western dishes. Nice seafood bbq. Good staff, and helpful suggestions for activities etc. Great base for exploring the surrounding area. Five stars.”

If you're looking for a villa nearby Galle - look no more. Book it before it's unavailable! We were five couples that spent New Years Eve in the villa (5 nights in total). My first concern when booking was that it was not located on the beach. Not to worry! The location is much better. The Koggala lake scenery is much prettier and you are only a 5 minute drive from the closest beach. It felt wonderful being surrounded by the "Sri Lanka" jungle without any neighbours in eyesight. My second concern was the distance to Galle. In my opinion, there is no good reason to have a villa close to Galle. A drive to Galle is only 40 min ($10) away and we spent as much time travelling east towards Marissa and Weligama. Villa Serendipity is therefore located close to every place we wanted to experience. In additon, the staff is amazing! We could not have asked for a better house Manager in Himal. There was not a single request he couldn't help us with. The Villa chef, Asanka, served us the Sri Lankan of the highest quality. We ended up eating in more days than we had planned because his dinners were better than what any restaurant could offer (+ cheap. You only pay for the ingredients). I am still dreaming of his morning smoothies… The villa is stunning. The pictures doesn't do the place justice. The rooms are beautiful and the outdoor area is perfect for socializing. The mix of modern design and older beautiful furnitures works perfect. If I were to build my dream home, this is what it would look like! I looked at 50+ homes before we ended up with Villa Serendipity. I could not have been more happy with my selection. My only regret was that I didn't book the villa for longer. Some final tips: We ordered wine in advance. Wine is expensive in Sri Lanka (european prices) as it's imported into the country. If you would like wine I suggest to do the same. Additionally, we bought beers prior to arriving the villa. beer is cheap, but due to local rules it is difficult for the staff to buy it on your behalf. Alochol was probably the only food/beverage we acquired on our own. Living in Sri Lanka is very cheap compared to Europe, so do not hesitate spending most of your budget on a beautiful villa like Villa Serendipity. I believe we spent around USD 300 euro per person for 10 days, and that includes transportation, restaurant etc. Thanks to all the staff in the villa, and to Stephanie for attending all the details prior to our arrival. We really hope to come back in the near future!

Serendipity villa is simply stunning. It's huge. Each bedroom is the size of an Amsterdam apartment, The pool is wide enough to do laps. And the best thing is the view. Perfect sunsets on Koggala lake, with hundreds of bats flying over. Monkeys and all kinds of birds visiting all day. And perfect surf beaches nearby. The team made our stay unforgettable. Himal arranged everything for us, tuktuks, trips and even a dog for our daughter to play with :-) The villa is managed by a company called Eden Villas. They also have a concierge service (Udeshika) so you don't have to worry or think about anything. Back again next year.

We had a perfect stay at the luxurious and comfortable villa Serendipity. Hospitable Staff, delicious food, intricately designed bedrooms, bathrooms and living spaces in a gorgeous house sitting on the edge of a breathtaking lake. The excellent staff even climbed up the coconut trees to pluck fresh king coconuts for us to drink after a long, serene boat ride on the lake. 6 star service! The photographs of the property do not do the location or house justice! Thank you again! Best wishes, The Joshuas.

We stayed at Villa Serendipity for 4 days in January 2020. Celebrated my daughter's first birthday there. We had the most amazing time thanks to the brilliant staff at the villa. Himal and his team took great care of us. The villa itself is stunning and beautifully maintained. We had planned on going and checking out many of the nearby tourist attractions but barely went out of the villa as it was so beautiful and relaxing. I didn't miss the beach at all thanks to the beautiful and serene Koggalla lake. The rooms are beautiful and spacious, but I doubt you would be spending much time in there thanks to the very comfortable living room downstairs. We spent much of our time by the pool. The best part about the villa is the Chef. Chef Asanka cooked us some delicious local food and we abandoned all our plans to go eat out as the food at home was way better than any restaurant food. Special props to Chamith, who was ever present and helpful. He served us excellent tea/coffee and always had a smile on his face. Himal the house manager made us some great cocktails! I would totally recommend this gem of a Villa to anyone who is looking for a relaxing vacation with some excellent food & stunning sunsets. I cant wait to go back again soon!
