River House
Details
Originally a coconut plantation house which dates back to over 130 years the house and gardens have been itself has been renovated without losing its Colonial “Walauva” history and feeling. Accommodating up to a group of eight (6 adults and 2 children) the rustic charm of the interior of the 3 bedrooms offer a cosy and comfortable stay.
The gardens have been landscaped and now enjoy several quiet and secluded areas with comfortable seating from which to watch the varied life of the river whether the incredible and teeming birds or the gentle toils of the fishermen.
The house is staffed with a cook and house keepers and if the lure to join the crowds on the beach is too strong it is but a short tuk tuk ride through the village to the massive beaches and surf breaks of Hikkaduwa with day and night life fun in abundance.

We've had a wonderful time thx! We loved the house, it's really special. The staff were amazing too, they couldn't do enough for us. We really hope we can come back again.
From the moment we entered into the Facility, we were taken back by all the natural beauty that surrounds this house. We were greeted by the warmest couple and began our dream vacation.
The River House has everything you could ask for and more. We had the most relaxing time with our kids and enjoyed the pool, all the beautiful sitting areas, the delicious meals prepared by Ms Rohini and the wonderful services of Mr Neel.
We felt like it was our home away from home without the stress. Everything was beautiful and relaxing. This was our favorite family vacation.
We look forwArd to coming back next year and reuniting with our new family.
We rented the River House from 27th January - 3rd Feb 2017.
We loved the house and it's location. The pool suited us perfectly. The furnishings and linens were excellent and changed regularly.
The house is made by Neel and Roshini. Neel is an excellent housekeeper with superb attention to detail. He is extremely organised and helpful. Roshini is a fabulous cook; we only ate out 4x in 7 days as the food in the house was so excellent.
Our one suggestion would be that you invest in a decent coffee maker for the house.
We would also like to thank Udeshika for all the trip arrangements she made for us. These went off very smoothly. The drivers were also very helpful and patient with us when we wanted to stop on the way back. The service of trip booking is excellent and again, we would recommend it.
we really loved the house, which is very nicely decorated in the colonial style. Niil and Rohini looked after us really well and were a very nice couple. A few things did go wrong during our time - power cuts and some water drainage issues but these things can happen of course, but they were dealt with quickly and efficiently.
It's also very useful that Niil has his own tuk-tuk so we were able to head out anytime.
