Suriyawatta

An exceptional villa where the attention to detail is surpassed only by the views over the ocean. Salt water pool; surround sound in the garden; cuisine; service; bathrooms; sweet aroma of jasmine; terraced lawns; beach….in all a peaceful fun family holiday. Exactly what we needed! Without question this is one of the best villas.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Suriyawatta enjoying the combination of the ocean, the waves and the sun. The architecture of the villa is optimizes as well as the decoration but the most remarkable was the kindness and the attention we got from the staff. Altogether it's a gift to be able to stay at Suriyawatta.

We had a fantastic time at Villa Suriyawatta.
From the decor, to the fantastic location with front beach access, to the delicious food prepared by Darminda, everything was just perfect.
Kudos to the staff who was always extremely attentive, Asanka is a star.
We will definitely recommend this villa to our friends, and will hopefully come back.

We had an amazing holiday. Suriyawatta in particular stands out as paradise. The villa is beautiful, immaculate and of course the location stunning. What really made it so amazing though was the manager Sanjeeva, the chef Dawinda, the head steward/second chef and all the other staff who were always there to meet our needs but at the same time never overbearing. Nothing was ever too much to ask. The service was outstanding and we were completely spoilt with the food - both the standard and quantity. We hope to come back and found it really hard to leave!

We had the best holiday that we have ever had,thanks to all the wonderful staff at Suriyawatta! We were able to relax the entire time. We didn't even go sightseeing as we did not want to leave the house! If I could give 10stars I would! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

An excellent property with excellent staff. The view from the villa is breathtaking, the facilities give you and your family plenty to keep busy, the staff cater to your every need, the chef can make whatever you like. This was an excellent choice for a well enjoyed family vacation. Thank you Eden Villas for all your help and for making this a vacation to remember.

Absolutely fabulous! Loved the garden with creeping bougainvilleas at the entrance, the layout of the main pavilion, furnishings, everything. Similar paint combination to Ivory House, which I think works at presenting a modern heritage feel. Private beach access adds to the exclusivity of the property. Twin bed arrangements make it perfect for girls trips, yoga retreats etc. The massage table is a strong selling point for groups, too.

We had a great time at Villa Suriyawatta. We spent a week with our family (8 members, ages ranging from 3 months to 80 years old).
The villa itself is gorgeous and well located with an almost private beach. Rooms and living areas are spacious, clean and nicely decorated, with a lot of books to help you travel further in your mind.
The beautiful garden is kids friendly and very well taken care of along with the perfectly sized swimming pool with stunning views on the sunset.
It attracts visitors such as peacocks early morning and friendly monkeys in the late afternoon, not to mention the lizards and other colourful birds.
Sanjeeva's team (the villa personnel) is helpful and working hard to make sure guests spend the best possible time. The chef adapted the menu with suggestions to help us discover local dishes from breakfast to dinner, all our meals were of high quality. Although Sanjeeva was extremely helpful with villa logistics and with organising several day trips, having a booklet listing things to do in and outside the villa would have probably made this experience perfect.
The Suriyawatta team are very professional and I would definitely recommend the villa.

It was absolutely sublime. The staff, Sanjeeva, chef and the two helpers (one was omar and i cannot remember the seconds name sorry), they made it perfect, Working around our every need whilst giving us space and privacy. the food was fantastic too!

The property was perfect for the children and the adults too, the care in the preparation of rooms and the attention to detail was exceptional, the way the room where done up every evening, the fantastic smell on incense, the fact there there was no mosquitos…all discreetly done but perfect.

Sanjeeva helped coordinate tuc tuc and activities which was extremely helpful too.

Bottom line, my congratulations. We stay in many villas but this is def one of our top choices going forward!!

We did indeed have a wonderful holiday and it has made returning to a cold, wet UK even harder!

Suriyawatta exceeded our expectations. The villa itself was perfect for a family Christmas, with all bedrooms the same size and standard so no one felt they had drawn the short straw. The decoration was of a high standard and the beds and furniture extremely comfortable and we enjoyed the extensive library, the table tennis, watching DVDs. etc.

The setting is stunning. We we able to watch the surfers riding the waves from the house and enjoy spectacular sunsets from the pool. It was a short tuk tuk ride to the beginners surfers beach at Weligama and we went whale watching from Mirissa and did a day trip to Udawalawe, as well as a few trips to Galle.

Above all the service at the villa was exceptional, it is run more like a boutique hotel than a villa with a manager, chef, 2 house staff and at least 4 other members of staff. They cater to your every whim and nothing is overlooked. The food is so good there is no need to eat elsewhere and they laid on 2 special meals for Christmas and New Year, setting up and decorating the table in different locations in the garden…unforgettable.

- The staff catered for our every need and each staff member exceeded our expectations. It was the little things which made this Villa very special, from the turn down service at night to the pool toys that were available for our use, from ensuring insect coils were placed directly where we were sitting to setting up a dining table under a lit-up tree.

- We were particularly impressed with the food that the chef prepared each day – his repertoire was extensive, and he prepared delicious western, Middle Eastern and Sri Lankan dishes to our delight.

- The villa itself was more magnificent than can be captured in the pictures on-line. The only thing I would say is that we could step directly on to the beach from the Villa, however, the beach was only accessible by a short walk and this was only possible during low tide (otherwise, we had to walk along the road, which admittedly was only a short distance).

- The gardens were beautifully manicured and perfect for the 3 children.

- The pool was large, relaxing and had the most spectacular views we could possibly hope for.

- Overall we absolutely loved this villa and would most definitely be recommending it to friends and family.

- The only point we would like to highlight is that it would’ve been helpful to have a guide relating to the surrounding area for restaurants, beach bars etc. The only option that the Villa Manager mentioned was Cape Welligama and the Fishermans Restaurant (which we thought was a terrible option for dining). Also, we headed to Villa Mayurana for the Cinnamon Experience with the 3 children but were not aware that you needed to book in advance (although, we thought the Villa Manger had booked on our behalf but he hadn’t as we did not confirm even though we confirmed the van to drive us there!). To save people the hassle of driving all the way there, perhaps mention that they need to book in advance.

A magical place!

If you're looking for a true private holiday, this is the place! From arrival to check out we felt so well looked after and amazed about the house. It's about 2,5 hrs from Colombo airport. There are big gates when entering with security at the street gate and by the sea gate including the beautiful dog Lola. We slept 5 adults and to babies in this house but we had 2 rooms empty. One we used for massages. Lovely and very cheap. We did yoga one day with a local instructor which was fantastic. The staff are very helpful and kind. Chef cooked great meals which we decided ourselves. Try the hoppers in the morning w an egg in. Local breakfast - yummy. Lots of lovely fruits. We had BBQ (red snapper) one evening under the tree. Delicious and stunning setting. The pool is lovely and it's great for kids as there's a small shall area of the pool. But the pool is also fenced off from the house so it's safe for the kids. Sanjeeva- house manager was very professional and speaks perfect English. Around the area there's not much to see or do. I'd suggest you just stay in the house and enjoy the pool and the sea. Thank you very much again for looking after us.

We planned this holiday with our family spread across various countries, meeting in Sri Lanka. We choose this place as we had visited previously and again were not disappointed!! The location of the villa is amazing, well maintained and extremely comfortable. The staff are absolutely incredible and went out of their way to cater to our every need. The chef whipped up superb meals which were enjoyed by all. The manager of the villa ensured our comfort. Definitely recommend this destination!!!

Suriyawatta is a beautiful, picturesque villa overlooking the beach in Weligama. We booked the villa with our friends, our group consisted of 3 families young families and a single friend. Children ranging from 0-4. The aim of the holiday was to have a relaxing couple of days where we didnt have to worry about safety or entertaining the children, while still having a fun holiday with friends. We hit the jackpot! The villa is perfect for groups and families, there is enough space for 14 people sleeping, and the space around the villa compliments this and allows everyone to find their own space for some quiet time. We found ourselves moving from area to area throughout the day. We didn't once need to leave the villa. There are a few things to do around the area, however I have to say, you will probably be more than happy staying put. ;) our little one spent the whole day splashing around in the infinity pool, while we enjoyed the views from it, the pool has both sun and shade so we could send the whole day there without worry. There is a seasonally safe swimming beach two houses down. The staff were really fantastic, they were there when we needed but never made us feel uncomfortable. There is a chef, whose food was fabulous, the manu catered for all, and enough options for the whole stay, although they ma now have run our of chocolate fudge cake ;) This was a great trip and it was all done to the villa and the staff. We have just returned from 5 days at the Suryiwatta Villa and all I can say is WOW. Amazing service, amazing views, great food, plenty of games for everyone to keep busy and an absolutely stunning private beach area. The villa has been so well thought out by the owners and offers great fun for all the family. Sanjeewa the house manager and his staff were so welcoming from the moment we arrived and could not have done anymore to make us feel welcome and relaxed. Whilst relaxing in the villa, we managed to see large lizards, monkeys, gecko’s, frogs, chipmunks (or something that looks similar) and so much more, so that was also a highlight for the kids. We will be back very soon and look forward to spending some more time exploring the area.
