Unique and authentic, 79 Leyn Baan Street is a cherished family home. It has been photographed and written about for books and has been featured in magazines as well as the backdrop for fashion shoots.
There are two entrances; the garden entrance leads to the Galle Fort ramparts, the lighthouse and the beach below while the front entrance opens into the narrow lanes of the Fort. The roof terrace looks out over the lighthouse to the Indian Ocean beyond. The house surrounds a cool pond centred in the courtyard and is laden with original 19th century architectural features.
There are two main bedrooms with bathrooms and two additional bedrooms, one with a queen size bed and the other with bunk beds. All are air conditioned. There is a trusted housekeeper called Kanthi who will clean and help with breakfast, shopping and laundry. The house is full of beautiful and treasured furniture from Sri Lanka, Java and Bali.
