Our stay at Buona Vista surpassed any of our expectations — it was perhaps the best experience I’ve ever had through Airbnb. The house staff could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. The chef made hands down the best meals we had in Sri Lanka (and for very affordable prices, since he purchased the groceries locally each day). The house was even more beautiful in person than it is the pictures — the sunrise and sunset views are breathtaking; the bedrooms are gorgeous and incredibly comfortable; the pool is sparkling. The premises were incredibly clean across the board. I can’t wait to go back — if you are going to Galle, you absolutely must stay here!

My family recently stayed at the Buona Vista South Villa over New Years and we could not have ben happier. Firstly, the villa was built recently and everything is in incredible condition. The entire place is beautiful and modern, but is still very open and you feel totally part of nature. Although it looks cool in the pictures, they really don't do it justice, as the decor and surrounding settings are magnificent. There is a pristine pool area that gets a good mix of son and shade, and the pool is an infinity pool overlooking the vast jungle. Below that there is a small grass garden, and a secluded sitting area where you can look and enjoy the view. We were enough lucky to catch a family of monkeys swinging by which was very cool. Although only three bedrooms, the entire place is massive; we stayed with 5 of us but felt like we could easily have fit many more. All of the spaces (living room, kitchen, bedrooms) are huge, and the views in the bedroom are phenomenal. You can see the ocean from upstairs in one direction, and the jungle and mountains in the other. The electric curtains that go up or down by remote control to reveal the view are one of the many small details that made this place such a delight. For us, the location was ideal, being just a short car or tuktuk trip away from both Galle and Unawatuna. The Galle fort area has lots of shops and restaurants to explore, and Unawatuna has a really relaxed beach vibe. There is also a place called Jungle Beach which is about a 15 minute walk or a short tuktuk trip away, which was a small and beautiful patch of beach close by to the Villa. I would recommend going in the morning to avoid the crowds and enjoy the peaceful bliss. On top of the villa there is an amazing roof deck, which would be a great place to entertain guests or take in a sunset. As nice as the villa and its amenities were, by far the best part of booking this place is the staff and service. The two people on staff with us could not have been more thoughtful or attentive. Anything you need from cooking to cleaning to taxis was handled without any issue, giving you 5 start experience in a totally down to earth and private way. Our baby was not feeling well one of the days and they ran out to grab medicine without hesitation and had a doctor on call waiting to come by. For our booking we were in touch with Udeshika, who was there to help us with everything from arranging airport transfers to making sure our fridge was fully stocked with wine on arrival! She and her staff could not have done more to make us feel welcomed and looked after, and they truly made it an unforgettable experience. I would without hesitation recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in an incredible villa with world class service and breathtaking views. Whether you want a secluded get away or are looking for the perfect launching pad for an exploratory trip of southwest Sri Lanka, Buona Vista South is the place to go!
