Bentota

About 2 hrs by car from the airport Bentota is undeniably the water sports capital of the south west coast with water skiing, wind surfing, deep sea fishing, jet skis, and the more gentle river cruise to keep you entertained.  

Kandy

Kandy is a World Heritage City; the gateway to the Tea country and Cultural Triangle; houses the most important Buddhist Temple on the island; has the magnificent gardens which are a ‘must-see’ and it has South Asia’s best golf course some 20 mins from the city centre and where our chosen villa sits with stunning views over the vast Victoria Reservoir.   

Kalpitiya

About 2 hours north from the airport on the western shores a largely undiscovered and long beach hides the small village of Kalpitiya. 

Mirissa

About 40 mins from Galle, Mirissa area plays host to one of the most spectacular crescent shaped bays along the whole of this coast as well as an exclusive cliff top villa.  

Weligama

Lying approx 40 mins from Galle the huge bay of Welligama plays host to a growing number of small sailing boats and the whale and dolphin watching boats as well as the majestic Taprobane Island.  

Galle Fort

In 1663 the Dutch built the 36 hectare fort and it is now a World Heritage Site occupying most of the promontory that forms the older part of Galle. It is delightfully quiet and easy going and one of ‘must do’s‘ when in Sri Lanka is to take a stroll around the ramparts walls. It will take you past the Dutch Reformed Church built in 1640; small beaches; a museum or two; the old Dutch gate; a functioning High Court with equally impressive trees in the square; several gem, fashion and gift shops; a mosque; dare devils leaping from the walls into shallow waters; a temple; provide a bird’s eye view of the international cricket pitch and more….ending with cold sundowners at the Amangalla.   

Galle

Approx 2 hrs from Colombo by car or 40 mins by helicopter, Galle is becoming the hub for south coast tourism. It boasts an international cricket pitch; a 300 year old Dutch Fort; beaches to dream about; wrecks to dive on; it lies only 20 mins from the surf capital of Hikkaduwa; has Temples surrounded by lush paddy fields and jungle scenery; a rain forest; shops, spas; restaurants; plays host to the Galle Literary Festival and other planned festivals; and has some of the finest villas and boutique hotels of anywhere in Asia.

Dikwella

Tangalla

Tangalla (1.45 hours from Galle, 3 from Colombo) is known for its vast beaches; its beautiful bays; its challenging surf; and for being the home to Aman Resorts second Sri Lankan hotel – Amanwella.  Close enough to the Yala Game Reserve for a day trip and several ancient rock temples.

Ahangama

Famous for its stilt fishermen and surf breaks. 15km from Galle.
